The Endless Cell Phone Saga

Okay, I KNOW I've stretched your credibility before with tales of my Electronic Ineptitude        ...but this is a dam buster. (Y'might want to read this outside due to its explosive nature.)   Recently my 2 year Sprint contract ended and I attempted to switch to Consumer Cellular, the geezer carrier of choice. I lasted two days with them...and then cancelled. Too complicated.
Trying to switch back to Sprint was one cruel joke (and defeat) after another.
"What is your Sprint password?" (It may have been set 2 years ago, there's no way to recall.)
"Who was your Corporate Sponsor?" (Since I haven worked in 30 years I listed B of A.)
"What did you have for lunch the day you enrolled with Sprint?" "Was it Tues or Fri.?"
Really these were the types of arcane questions and I had no way of recalling anything.
           Okay. Okay. I GIVE UP...
"Forget reinstalling my account...sign me up for a NEW service." (Pleeeease.)
           "Not so fast White Man..."
I was directed to  A.) Visit a Sprint store.  A CORPORATE STORE. (The closest is located at End of the World Drive and You Cant Get There From Here Road. )
B.) Re-enroll and undergo a new credit check.  C.) No they can't enroll me because the other service (that I cancelled) now OWNS my phone number. Irretrievably Gone!
Whaaat? I LOST my phone number that I've had for years and years.
Of course the story continues endlessly, like a hacking cough or violent diarrhea...so I'll spare you the similar details at ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, the Indian Smoke Signal Service.
Stay tuned for SOME conclusion...SOME day. Just not soon. Try e-mail to reach me. Thanks.
